Universal Dyeing & Printing Inc. claims Lane Bryant, others unlawfully used fabric design

LOS ANGELES – Lane Bryant Inc. and other apparel companies are accused of using a fabric design without authorization.

Universal Dyeing & Printing Inc. filed a complaint on May 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Lane Bryant Inc., Cherry Stix LTD, Cornerstone Apparel Inc. and Does 1 through 10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages from having its UA 13710 design copied without its permission. The plaintiff holds Lane Bryant Inc., Cherry Stix LTD, Cornerstone Apparel Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly sold or manufactured garments made out of fabrics that bear plaintiff's fabric design.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, all profits, statutory damages, all legal fees, interest and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs and Frank Gregory Casella of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
