Medici Textile Inc. alleges Belk Stores Services sold infringing garments

LOS ANGELES – A North Carolina corporation is alleged to have sold garments with an infringing textile design.

Medici Textile Inc. filed a complaint on May 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Belk Stores Services Inc. and Does 1 through 10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business from having its UA 50007-6 fabric design copied. The plaintiff holds Belk Stores Services Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly sold garments made out of fabrics that bear a similar version plaintiff's designs.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, profits, statutory damages, interest and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs and Frank Gregory Casella of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
