Popmatters Media Inc. alleged to have unlawfully used photos of Janet Jackson, Julia Child

LOS ANGELES – A Santa Monica photography corporation alleges that two of its photographs were used without permission by a Chicago corporation on its website.

Michael Grecco Productions Inc., doing business as Michael Grecco Photography, filed a complaint on June 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Popmatters Media Inc. and Does 1-10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages from having their photograph of Janet Jackson and Julia Child used without its permission. The plaintiff holds Popmatters Media Inc. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly reproduced plaintiff's photographs and publicly displayed it on their website without authorization.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, profits, monetary advantages, statutory damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott Alan Burroughs and David Shein of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
