Brighton Collectibles claims Macy's copied Reno Hearts jewelry design

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County company that produces women's fashion accessories alleges that one of its jewelry designs was copied without its permission.

Brighton Collectibles LLC filed a complaint on June 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Macy's Inc. alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff has a copyright registration for its Reno Heart design for bracelets and necklaces. The plaintiff holds Macy's Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly sells products that were copied from plaintiff's jewelry design.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendant, order the destruction of all allegedly infringing materials and products, all profits, compensatory damages, statutory damages of no less than $150,000, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
