LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County resident alleges that his claim for long-term disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

Mariano Quiambao filed a complaint on June 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and Allianz Global Risks US Insurance Co. and its subsidiaries long-term disability plan alleging breach of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he became disabled in January 2016 and applied for benefits, but his claim was denied by the defendants.

The plaintiff holds Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and Allianz Global Risks US Insurance Co. and its subsidiaries long-term disability plan responsible because the defendants allegedly upheld their decision to deny plaintiff's disability benefits despite him being disabled according to the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefits due to him, reinstatement, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Glenn R. Kantor and Brent Dorian Brehm of Kantor & Kantor LLP in Northridge.
