SAN FRANCISCO — A San Mateo County woman is suing Ford, alleging warranty violations and unfair competition.

Kate Celentano filed a complaint Sept. 1 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Ford Motor Company and Does 1 through 10, alleging they manufactured and sold a defective vehicle to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, Celentano suffered damages from purchasing a 2012 Ford Focus on Nov. 30, 2012, that was equipped with a defective transmission. The plaintiff alleges the defendants knew of the defective dual powershift 6-speed transmission in the vehicle purchased by Celentano but failed to fix the defect despite the Focus still being under warranty.

Celentano seeks trial by jury, damages, rescission, incidental and consequential damages, interest, legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorneys Hallen D. Rosner and Jeffrey L. Le Pere of Rosner, Barry & Babbitt LLP in San Diego.
