L.A. fabrics business accuses garment vendors of copyright infringement

LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles fabrics business is suing a Seattle garment vendor, alleging copyright infringement.

Joanne Fabric Inc. filed a complaint Sept. 14 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Zulily, LLC, and Does 1 through 10, alleging they illegally copied and reproduced plaintiff's fabric design.

According to the complaint, Joanne Fabric suffered damages from having its design copied without consent. The plaintiff alleges the defendants illegally sell garments made out out of fabric that bears Joanne Fabric's designs.

Joanne Fabric seeks trial by jury, enjoin the defendant, all profits, statutory damages, legal fees, interest and all other relief the court deems just. It is represented by attorney C. Yong Jeong of Jeong & Likens LC in Los Angeles.
