OROVILLE – A company that specializes in electrical components for agriculture and other industries is alleged to have discriminated against a female employee.

Sandra Temple filed a complaint on Oct. 2 in the Butte Superior Court against AIC Electric Management Services Inc., Tom Williams, Gary Ake and Does 1 through 20 alleging sex discrimination, hostile work environment, retaliation and other counts.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 14, 2013, Temple was hired as a full-time office manager of defendant AIC. The plaintiff alleges defendant Williams and Ake subjected her to frequent, oppressive and unwelcomed harassment and discrimination in relation to her gender. She alleges she was frequently denied raises while male co-workers were not.

She also alleges she was routinely denied an uninterrupted, duty-free 30-minute meal break during the workday and was not paid for the missed meal periods.

The plaintiff alleges she was forced to resign because of the hostile work environment on July 31, 2017.

The plaintiff holds AIC Electric Management Services Inc., Williams, Ake and Does 1 through 20 responsible because the defendants allegedly frequently discriminated against her because of her sex.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for general, compensatory and liquidated damages; civil penalties; prejudgment interest; attorneys' fees; injunctive relief and for such other and further relief as this court deems just and proper. She is represented by Raymond Babain and Melissa Paulette of Valiant Law in Ontario.
