Couple sues cabinet, countertop makers and sellers over lung disease allegedly caused by silica exposure

A couple, Rafael Garcia-Guerra and Angelica Garcia-Aranda, has filed a lawsuit against numerous cabinet and countertop manufacturers and sellers. 

The suit alleges that the defendants' stone products exposed them to silica particles, allegedly leading to lung disease. The plaintiffs claim negligence, product liability due to failure to warn and design defect, fraudulent concealment, breach of implied warranties, and loss of consortium.

The defendants include Antolini Luigi & C. S.P.A., Architectural Surfaces Group LLC, Arizona Tile L.L.C., Brazilian Exotic Granite Inc., CAB620 Inc., C & C North America Inc., Caesarstone Ltd, Caesarstone USA Inc., Cambria Company LLC, Colorquartz USA Inc., Compac Atlanta LLC, Compac Corporate Sociedad Limitada, Compac Quartz Inc., Compac USA Inc., and Cosentino Group among others.

The case was filed in San Francisco County Superior Court on Dec. 18. 

The plaintiffs are represented by attorneys Raphael Metzger and Scott P. Brust from Metzger Law Group APLC, of Long Beach; and Alan R. Brayton, Gilbert L. Purcell and James P. Nevin, from Brayton Purcell LLP, of Novato.
