Jane Doe sues Alum Rock Union School District for negligence and sexual abuse

In the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, plaintiff Jane Doe, represented by attorneys Navid A. Natanian, Rebecca John, and H. Benjamin Nahorai, has filed a lawsuit against Alum Rock Union School District and individual Israel Santiago (case number 24CV435022). The complaint was filed on April 8th, 2024 and includes allegations of negligence, negligent supervision and hiring/retention, intentional infliction of emotional distress, assault, sexual battery and abuse among other charges.

The lawsuit alleges that Santiago was hired as a music teacher at Adelante Dual Language Academy in 2015 despite previous complaints about his inappropriate sexual behavior with minor females at other schools within the district. Santiago allegedly continued his sexually inappropriate behavior at Adelante Academy from 2021 onwards.

The plaintiff is seeking damages for the emotional distress caused by Santiago's actions and the school district's negligence in handling the situation. The amount in controversy exceeds $25,000.
