SACRAMENTO – A woman is suing her insurance company over claims that it unlawfully terminated her disabilities payments.

Donna Pingrey filed a complaint Feb. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Liberty Life Assurance Co. of Boston, doing business as Liberty Mutual, and Does 1 to 100, citing breach of contract and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 14, 2013, she became disabled, applied for disability benefits and was approved by the defendant in June 2013. After several months into the plan, the defendant allegedly terminated benefit payments in November 2014. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly terminated plan benefits despite of supporting documents presented by the plaintiff.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for all damages, including prejudgment interest, attorney's fees and costs and any other relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by David Allen of David Allen & Associates in Sacramento.
