SAN FRANCISCO – The federal government has filed suit against a San Francisco company alleging its food products are at risk of contamination.

United States of America filed a complaint on April 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Kun Wo Food Products Inc. and Zi Xing Liu and Zi Chen Liu, citing violations of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the company manufactures rice noodles and that the facility failed Food and Drug Administration inspections in January and February. The plaintiff holds Kun Wo Food Products Inc. and Zi Xing Liu and Zi Chen Liu responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to follow current good manufacturing practices, which may cause its food products be contaminated by bacteria.

The plaintiff seeks an order that the defendants cease distributing articles of food until they meet the FDA implementing regulations, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. It is represented by Benjamin C. Mizer and Jonathan F. Olin of U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.
