SAN FRANCISCO – A family has filed a suit against a technology manufacturer alleging a defective product caused a fire.

Dmitri Voloshchuk, Villela Rosa Tosca, Varvara Voloshchuk, Alexander Voloshchuk, Daniel Felix Voloshchuk and plaintiffs 4 through 10 filed a complaint on July 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Lenovo Inc. and Does 1 to 10 alleging negligence, product liability and product recall expansion.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on June 5, they suffered damages to their apartment when the defendant's Lenovo Thinkpad caught fire while charging. The plaintiffs hold Lenovo Inc.; Does 1 to 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to inspect their products for any defects before selling them to consumers.

The plaintiffs seek all damages, order a recall or modification, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Andrew W. Shalaby of East Bay Law in El Cerrito.
