Phone 08

LOS ANGELES – A debt collector is facing a class-action suit from a Los Angeles County individual over allegations of telephone harassment.

Pardeep Kullar filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on July 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against First Step Group LLC and Does 1-10 alleging violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in April, he suffered damages, emotional distress, humiliation and embarrassment from being called multiple times by the defendants regarding an alleged debt he owed. The plaintiff holds First Step Group LLC and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly contacted plaintiff several times using an automatic dialing system despite his request to stop calling him.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Todd M. Friedman, Adrian R. Bacon and Meghan E. George of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman PC in Beverly Hills.
