Government alleges more than $85,000 owed on student loans

Late 07

SACRAMENTO – The federal government is seeking repayment of student loans from an individual that allegedly defaulted on the loans in the early 1990s.

United States of America filed a complaint on Aug. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Jonathan Netzer alleging that the individual failed to settle his debt to plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Netzer failed to pay the principal balance of his debt plus interest to plaintiff of several loans that were issued between 1988 and 1990. The suit states the defendant defaulted on the student loans in 1992 and 1993 and has not paid them back despite demands from the plaintiff.

The plaintiff seeks $85,377.33 plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Phillip A. Talbert and Patrick J. Suter of Fresno.
