Man accused of failure to pay education loans

LOS ANGELES – A government entity is suing a Los Angeles County man over allegations that two student loans are in default.

United States of America, on behalf of the Department of Education, filed a complaint on Sept. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Luis A. Cruz, also known as Luis Cruz, alleging that the individual failed to settle his debt to plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Cruz failed to pay the principal amount of his debt with plaintiff plus interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $7,488.66 plus interest of $2,684.44, with interest accruing thereafter at $1.16 and 62 cents per day, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by William I. Goldsmith and Michael L. Goldsmith of Goldsmith & Hull A.P.C. in Northridge.
