Federal government seeks repayment of student loan allegedly in default

LOS ANGELES – A Riverside County man is alleged to have defaulted on a student loan.

United States of America, on behalf of the Department of Education, filed a complaint on Sept. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Michael B. Rodrigues, also known as Michael Barney Rodrigues, alleging that the individual failed to settle his debt to plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Rodrigues failed to pay the principal amount of his debt plus interest to plaintiff.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $4,580.49 plus interest of $2,318.08 with further interest at 2.36 percent per annum accruing at 30 cents per day, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. It is represented by William I. Goldsmith and Michael L. Goldsmith of Goldsmith & Hull APC in Northridge.
