'Cell' producer alleges BitTorrent user uploaded the movie online without permission

SAN DIEGO – The producer and developer of the movie "Cell" alleges the film was illegally shared online on BitTorrent.

Cell Film Holdings LLC filed a complaint on Sept. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California against Doe 72.197.18.54 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages from having its motion picture distributed without its permission. The plaintiff holds Doe 72.197.18.54 responsible because the defendant allegedly distributed copies of plaintiff's motion picture on BitTorrent.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks permanent injunction against the defendant, order the defendant to destroy all copies of plaintiff's motion picture, statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by James S. Davis in Chula Vista.
