Federal government alleges Los Angeles County resident's student loans are in default

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County resident is alleged to have defaulted on several student loans.

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County resident is alleged to have defaulted on several student loans.

United States of America, on behalf of the Department of Education, filed a complaint on Sept. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Nana M. Gyamfi alleging that the individual failed to settle a debt with plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Gyamfi failed to pay the principal debt of a debt with plaintiff plus interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $3,732 plus interest of $2,520.11 with further interest at 5 percent per annum accruing at 51 cents per day; principal amount of $5,305 plus interest in the sum of $4,992.08 with further interest at 5 percent per annum accruing at 73 cents per day; principal amount of $7,909.04, plus interest in the sum of $10,712.35 with further interest at 8 percent per annum accruing at $1.73 per day; principal amount of $15,411.94 plus interest in the sum of $21,680.88 with further interest at 8 percent per annum accruing at $3.38 per day; and principal amount of $5,096.98, plus interest in the sum of $6,339.25 with further interest at 3.54 percent per annum accruing at 49 cents per day.
