Woman alleges she was wrongfully terminated from Great-West disability plan

Insurance 04

LOS ANGELES – A Great-West Life Annuity & Insurance Company employee alleges she was wrongfully terminated from receiving disability benefits.

Penny Leonard filed a complaint on Sept. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Cigna Group Insurance and Great-West Long Term Disability Plan and Does 1 through 10 alleging that they denied plaintiff's claim for disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in September 2004, she became disabled and was initially being paid disability benefits until the benefits were terminated in June 2015. The plaintiff seeks declaration from the court that she is still disabled according to the terms of the defendants' plan and is entitled to benefits.

The plaintiff seeks all benefits due to plaintiff plus interest, reinstatement, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Charles J. Fleishman and Paul A. Fleishman of The Fleishman Law Firm in Woodland Hills.
