Federal government seeks repayment of student loans allegedly in default from man

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County man is claimed to have defaulted on two student loans.

United States of America, on behalf of the Department of Education, filed a complaint on Dec. 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Juan M. Ricabal, also known as Juan M. Ricabal Jr., alleging that the individual failed to settle his debt with the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Ricabal failed to pay the principal amount of his debt plus interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $3,358.39 plus interest of $9,546.81 with interest accruing thereafter at 12 percent per annum, principal amount of $7,051.06 plus interest of $13,351.39 with interest accruing thereafter at 8 percent per annum and all legal fees. It is represented by Kathryn E. Van Houten of Irsfeld, Irsfeld & Younger LLP in Glendale.
