LOS ANGELES – A class action has been filed against a San Jose debt collection over allegations of misrepresentation in debt collection.

Articia Woods filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Jan. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Hunt & Henriques Inc. and John Does 1-10 citing the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in March 2016, the defendants mailed her a letter regarding an alleged debt. The plaintiff holds Hunt & Henriques Inc. and John Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants' letter allegedly falsely represented the amount of debt and threatened to take legal action when it had no intention or legal right to do so.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, actual damages, all legal fees plus interest and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Todd M. Friedman and Adrian R. Bacon of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman P.C. in Woodland Hills.
