Government files suit against Orange County individual over alleged failure to pay

LOS ANGELES – An Orange County resident is alleged to have defaulted on two student loans.

United States of America, acting on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education, filed a complaint on Feb. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Dung Thi Nguyen alleging that the individual failed to settle a debt with the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Nguyen responsible failed to pay the principal amount of two debt including interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $3,301.02 plus interest of $8,823.11 with interest accruing thereafter at 9 percent; $2,158.69 plus interest of $4,679.33; all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Kathryn E. Van Houten of Irsfeld, Irsfeld & Younger LLP in Glendale.
