Los Angeles County woman alleged to owe more than $1,000 on student loan

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County resident is alleged to have defaulted on a student loan.

United States of America, acting on behalf of the Department of Education, filed a complaint on Feb. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Catrina Mason, also known as Catrina L. Mason, alleging that the individual failed to settle her debt with the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Mason failed to pay the principal amount of her debt including interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $1,996.66 plus interest of $2,118.19 with further interest at 9 percent per annum accruing at 49 cents per day, all legal fees plus any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by William I. Goldsmith and Michael L. Goldsmith of Goldsmith & Hull, A.P.C. in Northridge.
