SACRAMENTO – A husband and wife allege a debt collector unlawfully called them despite knowing they are represented by counsel.

Donald Wilson, et al. filed a complaint on April 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Mercantile Adjustment Bureau LLC citing the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered damages from receiving several collection calls from the defendant. The plaintiffs hold Mercantile Adjustment Bureau LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly contacted the plaintiff directly despite knowing that they are being represented by an attorney.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $2,000 in statutory damages, all legal fees, and any other relief as this court deems just. They are represented by Richard J. Meier of Meier LLC in San Diego.
