SAN FRANCISCO – A man alleges he was injured while working aboard a vessel.

Alphonse Dixon filed a complaint on July 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Matson Navigation Co. Inc. alleging that the employer failed to provide a seaworthy vessel.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 28, 2016, he suffered physical injuries while performing his duties at work because he was required to work under protest during inclement weather on heavy seas. The plaintiff holds Matson Navigation Co. Inc. responsible because the plaintiff alleges he suffered mortification, humiliation, loss of earnings and medical expenses.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant, interest, all legal fees, medical expenses and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Dennis M. O'Bryan of O'Bryan Baun Karamanian in Birmingham, Michigan.
