Meat company floor supervisor accuses employer of discrimination

FRESNO — A Fresno County man is suing a meat company, alleging discrimination and wrongful termination.

John Salazar filed a complaint Feb. 17 in Fresno County Superior Court against Cargill Beef Solutions Company also known as Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation and Does 1-100, alleging they terminated his employment due to his association with a member of a protected class.

According to the complaint, Salazar suffered damages from being terminated from employment as a superintendent Feb. 26, 2015, on the kill floor for being associated with a female co-worker. The plaintiff alleges the defendants retaliated against him plaintiff for supporting a co-worker who filed a discrimination claim.

Salazar seeks trial by jury, special damages, general and compensatory damages, interest, punitive damages, legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Larry H. Shapazian of Tomassian, Pimentel & Shapazian in Fresno.
