Customer accuses pay day lender of violating phone privacy law

SACRAMENTO — A Placer County woman has filed a class action lawsuit against WD Services LLC; Does 1 through 10, lender, citing alleged violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Xuandao Gray-Lingle filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, Aug. 10, in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against WD Services LLC and Does 1 through 10, alleging they illegally called the plaintiff to offer their services.

According to the complaint, between August 2016 and October 2016, Gray-Lingle suffered damages from receiving several unwanted telephone calls on her cellular phone from the defendants. The plaintiff alleges the defendants continued to call her using an automatic telephone dialing system to solicit her business despite her not giving them permission to do so.

Gray-Lingle seeks trial by jury and seeks $500 in statutory damages, $1,500 in treble damages and all other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorneys Todd M. Friendman, Meghan E.
