Labor union alleges Ford breached contract

SAN FRANCISCO — A labor union is suing Ford Motor and subsidiaries, alleging breach of contract.

Automotive Industries Pension Trust Fund, James J. Beno, Stephen J. Mack, Don Crosatto, James Schwantz, Doug Cornford, Ryan Thibodeau, and Rich Morales filed a complaint Aug. 7 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against South City Motors, Inc., Capitol Expressway Ford, Inc., Sunnyvale Ford, Inc., aka Peninsula Ford of Sunnyvale and Ford Motor Company, alleging they failed and refused to honor a court award given to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs suffered monetary damages due to an unpaid withdrawal liability. The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed and refused to pay all legal fees required by the court award.

The plaintiffs seek quarterly payments of $64,683, final payment of $5,350, attorney fees of $109,262.75, and costs of $9,452.73, all legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorneys Anne M. Bevington and Carol A. Treasure of Saltzman & Johnson Law Corporation in San Francisco.
