Employee accuses Foster Poultry Farms of discrimination

FRESNO — A Fresno County woman is suing Foster Farms, alleging discrimination and wrongful termination.

Gurdip Kaur, of Indian descent, filed a complaint Oct. 3 in Fresno County Superior Court against Foster Poultry Farms also known as Foster Farms Poultry, and Does 1 to 100, alleging violation of the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA).

According to the complaint, on April 24, 2013, Kaur sustained a work-related injury when she slipped an fell, injuring her left wrist, while employed as a production worker at Foster Poultry's chicken processing plants in Fresno. She says she returned to work following recovery from surgery but was harassed, overly scrutinized and disparately treated by her supervisors and a human resource representatives.

The suit says she was eventually terminated July 22, 2016. 

The plaintiff alleges Foster Farms denied employment and constructively terminated her employment because of Kaur's race/nationality/color and/or her actual perceived disability.

Kaur seeks trial by jury and seeks judgment for compensatory, punitive or exemplary damages, injunctive relief, costs of suit, attorney fees and all other just and proper felief. She is represented by attorney Dean B. Gordon of Law Office of Dean B. Gordon in Fresno.
