Husband blames physician for wife's death

Medical malpractice 05

FRESNO — A surviving spouse is suing a Fresno County physician, alleging wrongful death and negligence.

Peter D. Farrington filed a complaint Oct. 19 in Fresno County Superior Court against Dr. Michael J. Moffett, alleging the defendant failed to exercise standard care and skill required of medical providers.

According to the complaint, between April 2016 and until her death, July 20, 2016, Patricia J. Farrington was under the care of Moffett. The suit says Peter Farrington ha significantly suffered from the death of his wife, and incurred funeral and burial expenses.

The suit says Moffett misdiagnosed the decedent's illness, provided the wrong medication and failed to instruct the intensive care unit staff at Clovis Community Medical Center and ensure that Patricia Farrington received proper treatment.

The plaintiff alleges Moffett failed to exercise the proper degree of knowledge and skill in examining, diagnosing, treating and caring for Patricia Farrington.

Peter Farrington seeks trial by jury, general damages, funeral and burial expenses, interest and all relief the court deems just. He is representing himself.
