Female employee accuses engineering company of sexual harassment

By Noddy A. Fernandez | Dec 18, 2017

FRESNO — A Fresno County woman is suing an engineering corporation, alleging sexual harassment.

Teri Salazar filed a complaint Nov. 30 in Fresno County Superior Court against Technician Engineering Services Inc. and Does 1 through 20, alleging violation of the Fair Employment Act.

According to the complaint, on July 23, 2012, Salazar was hired by defendant as an administrative assistant. During her employment, the suit says, she was subjected to harassment on the basis of sex on several occasions.

Salazar says she told her supervisor about the offensive conduct of male employees but shortly after she was notified Dec. 2, 2016 that Technician Engineering had terminated her employment.

As a result, Salazar says she has suffered economic losses, severe emotional distress and mental anguish.

The plaintiff alleges Technician Engineering Services failed to provide female employees a safe place to work, free from visual and verbal sexual harassment, and failed to take appropriate action when it knew or should have known of the sexual harassment.

Salazar seeks trial by jury, general and special damages, exemplary punitive damages, reinstatement to her job, costs, attorney fees, and all other relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by attorneys Shelley G. Bryant and Amanda B. Whitten of Bryant Whitten, LLP in Fresno.
