LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles County woman is suing a group of defendants, alleging misrepresentation in debt collection.

Soheila Gooran filed a complaint Feb. 27 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against The Home Depot, Inc., Regions Finacial Corp., Greensky LLC, Solutions Inc., Equifax Information Services, LLC and Trans Union, LLC, alleging violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and California Consumer Credit Reporting Agencies Act.

According to the complaint, on May 24, 2017, through counsel, she sent a letter to Home Depot offering to settle her debt amounting to $4,761. Despite settling her debts with Home Depot, the suit says, Gooran's account still remains inaccurate as the three credit reporting agencies have reported different things to one another at the same time, and reported the same things as one another at different times.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to conduct a reasonable investigation of the inaccurate debt information and failed to employ and follow reasonable procedures to ensure maximum possible accuracy of the consumer's credit reports, information and file.

Gooran seeks trial by jury, actual, statutory and punitive damages between $100 and $5,000 for each violation, court costs and attorney fees, pre- and post-judgment interest, and all other relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by attorney Stuart Price of Price Law Group, APC in Encino.
