LOS ANGELES – A Long Beach consumer alleges a Beverly Hills debt collector has harassed her with phone calls.

LOS ANGELES – A Long Beach consumer alleges a Beverly Hills debt collector has harassed her with phone calls.

Marie Veneracion filed a complaint on May 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Wilshire Consumer Loans LLC alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 16, she spoke with a live representative of the defendant and requested that defendant cease all further calls to her telephone. She alleges the defendant continues to call her.

The plaintiff holds Wilshire Consumer Loans LLC responsible because despite her request that defendant cease all further calls, the defendant allegedly continued to make calls at an excessive and harassing rate using an automatic telephone dialing system and/or an artificial or pre-recorded voice.

The plaintiff seeks statutory damages of $500 for each and every violation, treble damages of $1,000 for each and every willful violation, attorneys’ fees, punitive damages and such other just and proper relief. She is represented by Trinette G. Kent of Lemberg Law LLC in Wilton, Connecticut.
