Woman alleges age was a factor in termination from Permanente Medical Group

Lawsuits
Wrongful term 03

FRESNO – A Fresno County woman alleges that she was involuntarily terminated by a medical facility and that her age was a factor.

Melissa Russell filed a complaint on July 9 in the Fresno County Superior Court against The Permanente Medical Group and Does 1-20 over alleged violation of the Fair Employment and Housing Act.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 18, the plaintiff was terminated by defendant after working for it for almost 13 years. She alleges toward the end of her employment, she faced harassment and discrimination because of her age from younger supervisors.

The plaintiff holds The Permanente Medical Group and Does 1-20 responsible because the defendant allegedly treated her differently because of her age and gender and because of her complaints of the adverse actions.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for actual, special, general, statutory and punitive damages; attorneys' fees; interest; costs of suit; and all other further relief as the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Daniel J. Cravens of Cravens & Associates in Fresno.
