Macy's shopper alleges dolly in walkway caused fall

SAN FRANCISCO – A shopper alleges she was injured at a department store because of an object in the customer walkway.

Marie de Guzman filed a complaint on Nov. 21 in the San Francisco Superior Court against Macy's Corporate Services Inc. and Macy's West Stores Inc. alleging negligence and premises liability.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 23, 2016, Guzman was a customer at Macy's at Stonestown Galleria when she tripped over a hand-truck or dolly in the customer walkway and was injured in a fall.

The plaintiff holds Macy's Corporate Services Inc. and Macy's West Stores Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly neglected to maintain a safe premises for their invitees.

The plaintiff seeks judgment for compensatory damages according to proof. She is represented by Nikolaus W. Reed of Law Office of Nikolaus Reed in San Francisco.
