SAN FRANCISCO – Several music industry entities have filed suit against the operators of a San Francisco business over allegations of unauthorized performances of songs.

Broadcast Music Inc.; Paul Simon Music; Universal Music Z-Tunes LLC, doing business as Universal Music Songs; Forceful Music; Interior Music Corp.; Sony/ATV Songs LLC filed a complaint on April 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Jacqueline Maria Cooper and Peter Cooper, citing copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in December 2015, they were damaged as a result of their works being used without their authority. The plaintiffs hold Jacqueline Maria Cooper and Peter Cooper responsible because the defendants allegedly refused to purchase a license in order for them to be able to use plaintiffs' compositions for public performance at Ireland's 32. The suit states the plaintiffs have contacted the defendants more than 70 times regarding a license.

The plaintiffs seek enjoin and restrain the defendant from infringing plaintiffs musical compositions, statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. They are represented by Jeffrey W. Kramer and AnnMarie Mori of Troygould PC in Los Angeles.
