Spine & Neurosurgery Associates files suit seeking reimbursement for treatment costs

SACRAMENTO – A medical provider has filed suit against an insurance company seeking reimbursement for a patient's treatment costs.

Spine & Neurosurgery Associates filed a complaint on June 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Blue Shield of California Life & Health Insurance Co. and Does 1-10 alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages when its reimbursement request for treating one of the defendant's beneficiaries in May 2015 was refused. The plaintiff holds Blue Shield of California Life & Health Insurance Co. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly refused to reimburse the total amount of the cost of care and instead only made a partial payment of $960.29.

The plaintiff seeks medical benefits in the amount of $32,447.71, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Yasha Rahimzadeh of the Law Offices of Yasha Rahimzadeh in Sacramento.
