Oakley Inc. files suit claiming patent infringement against Ohio company

Patents 03

LOS ANGELES – A Foothill Ranch eyewear manufacturer claims a Strongsville, Ohio company sells products that are similar to its patented products.

Oakley Inc. filed a complaint on July 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against Solarx Eyewear LLC alleging patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as the result of its patents being infringed by the defendant. The plaintiff holds Solarx Eyewear LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly manufactures and sells eye wear that uses plaintiff's patented intellectual property.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to enjoin the defendant, all damages as the result of the infringement, trebling of damages, exemplary damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Michael K. Friedland, Ali S. Razai and Samantha Y. Hsu of Knobbe, Martens, Olson & Bear LLP in Irvine.
