SACRAMENTO – A canine handler for the city of Selma alleges he was not paid overtime wages.

Shane Frandsen filed a complaint on July 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against city of Selma and Does 1 through 10 alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he worked for more than 40 hours but was not paid any overtime premium for hours worked in excess of 40. The plaintiff holds the city of Selma and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay overtime compensation at a rate of one-and-one-half to plaintiff during his employment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual, consequential, liquidated, incidental damages, other damages according to proof, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Michael A. McGill of Adams, Ferrone & Ferrone in Westlake Village.
