Urban Textile Inc. files copyright suit over fabric designs

Copyright 06

LOS ANGELES – Two Irvine companies are accused of distributing items featuring a copyrighted textile design without authorization.

Urban Textile Inc. filed a complaint on July 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Tilly's Inc., World of Jeans and Tops Inc. and Does 1-10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as the result of its designs being used without its authority by the defendants. The plaintiff holds Tilly's Inc., World of Jeans and Tops Inc. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly manufactured and distributed to different retailers fabric and garments that bear plaintiff's designs.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to enjoin the defendant, award all profits and damages to plaintiff, all legal fees and interest and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by C. Yong Jeong and Amy Choe of Jeong & Likens LC in Los Angeles.
