LOS ANGELES – A Riverside consumer alleges a Maryland debt collector continued to call him despite requests to stop.
Nathan Willard filed a complaint on July 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Eastern Division against Onemain Financial Group LLC alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff claims that since 2015, he experienced harassment as the result of being contacted several times a day on his cellular telephone by the defendant in an attempt to collect an alleged debt. The plaintiff holds Onemain Financial Group LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly used an automatic telephone dialing system to contact the plaintiff and continued to call despite his requests to stop calling.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, punitive damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Matthew A. Rosenthal of Westgate Law in Los Angeles.
