Man files suit seeking disability benefits from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.

Insurance 02

SAN FRANCISCO – A Solano County man alleges an insurance company wrongfully denied him disability benefits.

Huey Roberson filed a complaint on Aug. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and Does 1 through 10 alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he became disabled due to numerous chronic medical conditions and applied for disability benefits from the defendant but was denied. The plaintiff holds Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly denied plaintiff's claim for disability benefits despite having sufficient medical records to support his claim.

The plaintiff seeks payment of long-term disability benefits due plus interest at the rate of 9 percent, statutory penalties, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by David M. Lilienstein and Jessica M. Cho of DL Law Group in San Francisco.
