Government agency seeks repayment of allegedly unpaid student loan

LOS ANGELES – The federal government has filed a suit claiming a Los Angeles County man owes on a student loan.

United States of America, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education, filed a complaint on Aug. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Raul Medina, also known as Raul Medina Rojas, alleging that the individual failed to pay plaintiff for a debt he owed.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Medina allegedly failed to honor his promissory note to plaintiff by paying his student loan debt on the agreed date.

The plaintiff seeks the principal amount of $3,833.21 plus interest in the sum of $2,115.34 plus ongoing interest at the rate of 39 cents and 51 cents per day, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by William I. Goldsmith and Michael L. Goldsmith of Goldsmith & Hull APC in Northridge.
