U.S. government seeks repayment from man who allegedly didn't pay student loan

LOS ANGELES — The U.S. government has filed suit against a man who allegedly failed to pay his student loan. 

The U.S. government filed a complaint on Aug. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Terrence R. Burnett, also known as Terrence Burnett.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that United States of America suffered damages from the unpaid debt. The plaintiff holds Terrence R. Burnett responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to honor his promissory note to the plaintiff by paying his debt on the agreed upon date.

The plaintiff seeks the principal amount of $5,710.54 plus interest in the sum of $3,260.51 plus ongoing interest at the rate of $0.66 and $0.68 per day, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems appropriate. The plaintiff is represented by William I. Goldsmith and Michael L. Goldsmith of Goldsmith & Hull A.P.C. in Northridge.
