Keeney Truck Lines Inc. alleged to owe more than $100,000 in employee contributions

LOS ANGELES – A labor union fund alleges a trucking company is delinquent on paying contributions.

The board of trustees of the Teamsters and Food Employers Security Trust Fund filed a complaint on Aug. 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against Keeney Truck Lines Inc. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages due to late and unpaid contributions. The plaintiff holds Keeney Truck Lines Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to perform its duty according to its labor agreement with plaintiff by paying monthly contributions on behalf of its employees. The plaintiffs allege the defendant owes for the month of November 2014 and November 2015 through August, totaling $113,689.61 plus liquidated damages.

The plaintiff seeks all unpaid contributions plus liquidated damages at the rate of 10 percent, interest, all legal fees and costs and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Kathryn J. Halford, Elizabeth Rosenfeld, and Nicholas Starkman of Wohlner Kaplon Cutler Halford & Rosenfeld in Encino.
