Department of Education alleges student loans remain unpaid

LOS ANGELES – A San Bernardino County man is accused of defaulting on two student loans.

United States of America, on behalf of the Department of Education, filed a complaint on Aug. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against William F. Rendel alleging that the individual failed to settle his debt to plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Rendel failed to pay plaintiff for the principal amount of his debt plus interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $8,284.70, interest in the sum of $19,569.62 plus accruing interest at 9.130 percent per annum, principal amount of $10,913.90, interest in the sum of $23,339.16 plus accruing interest at 9 percent per annum, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Kathryn E. Van Houten of Irsfeld, Irsfeld & Younger LLP in Glendale.
