Couture Textile alleges Nordstrom, others used design without permission

LOS ANGELES – A fabric print designer alleges its design was used without authorization in garments.

Couture Textile Inc. filed a complaint on Aug. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Only J Corp., doing business as OJ Textile; Crew Knitwear LLC; Nordstrom Inc., doing business as Nordstrom Rack; Hautelook; and Does 1 to 10, alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business from having its designs copied onto other garments. The plaintiff holds OJ Textile; Crew Knitwear LLC; Nordstrom Inc., doing business as Nordstrom Rack; Hautelook; and Does 1 to 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly sells garments bearing plaintiff's designs through online and retails stores.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, award all profits to plaintiff, statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Farhad Novian and Joseph A. Lopez of Novian & Novian LLP in Los Angeles.
