LOS ANGELES — An individual has filed suit against a life insurance company, claiming it wrongfully terminated long-term disability payments.

Shoghi Fret filed a complaint Sept. 1 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Life Insurance Co. of North America, alleging that the insurance firm denied the plaintiff's claim for disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, he became disabled and was initially being paid disability benefits until they were terminated on Aug. 7, 2015. The plaintiff holds Life Insurance Co. of North America responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated the plaintiff's disability benefits despite still being disabled and while purportedly having sufficient evidence to support his claim.

The plaintiff seeks benefits owed to the plaintiff plus interest, an order to the defendant that the plaintiff is entitled to future disability benefits, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Frank N. Darras, Lissa A. Martinez, Susan B. Grabarsky and Phillip S. Bather of DarrasLaw in Ontario.
