LOS ANGELES – A Las Vegas bank is facing a lawsuit from a Los Angeles resident over allegations it is trying to collect a debt that doesn't belong to her.

Nikema Hagler filed a complaint on Sept. 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against Credit One Financial, doing business as Credit One Bank NA, and Does 1-10 citing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered damages from receiving collection calls from the defendant for a debt that belongs to another person, sometimes up to seven times a day. The plaintiff holds Credit One Financial and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly continued to call plaintiff's cellular telephone despite her request to stop calling.

The plaintiff seeks statutory damages, treble damages, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. She is represented by Tammy Hussin of Hussin Law in Encinitas.
